Why book with Ranft Guide Service?
My name is TJ Ranft. I am a third generation fishing guide at Possum Kingdom Lake. Both my father and grandfather were fishing guides on our lake before me. My family moved to Possum Kingdom Lake in 1946. I grew up fishing this beautiful lake and enjoy sharing my passion with others.

My boat is a 21 foot Century, center console that is clean and kid friendly. My tackle and gear are top quality and well maintained.

Possum Kingdom Lake

Fishing Report from TPWD (Oct. 16)

GOOD. Water stained; 77 degrees; 1.94 feet below pool. Stripers are fair to good with live bait early in the morning in 20-40 feet of water, then in 40-60 feet later in the day. Downriggers continue to be slow. Fish are still moving very fast and it is very hard to stay on top of them but it can be done. Your best bet is to just put baits in the water and slowly move around with the trolling motor until you find them. Once you find them, try to stay with them. Sand bass are still slow in 20-30 feet of water with live shad or small slabs and jigs or rattle traps. White and silver are good colors. Catfish are still fair to good with cut shad or your favorite brand of stink bait, also known as punch bait, is still producing good numbers of fish in 15-30 feet of water fished on or near the bottom. Water clarity is steady with 4-10 feet of visibility. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service. Bass are scattered on ledges, points, and deep timber hitting crankbaits, Carolina rigs, dropshots. Report by JK Outdoors Bass Fishing Guide.
