Now That's a Crappie!

Now That's a Crappie!

Lionel Ferguson’s 5-pound, 7-ounce black crappie is the new IGFA All-Tackle world record! Caught on May 15, 2018 in Richeison Pond, Tennessee, Ferguson’s monster crappie replaced the previous record of 5 pound which was set back in 2006.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 9)

FAIR. Water stained; 66 degrees; 0.49 feet below pool. The water temperature is steady at 60-66 degrees but will rise with warmer weather. Stripers continue to be slow and scattered in 20-40 feet of water on points and ledges. Live bait is the best bet. Sand bass are fair in creeks, but slowing down in the main lake. Target the outside bends and deep holes in the creeks with live shad or small jigs and rattle traps. Catfish are still fair to good with cut shad in 10-15 feet of water or 20-30 feet of water fished on the bottom. Baited holes are your best bet to catch numbers, be sure to wait 2-3 hours before fishing. Use punch bait for best results on baited holes. Water clarity is steady at 1-8 feet of visibility and slightly stained. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service.
